What is Synerdata Radio?

 [OFF-THE-AIR]

For 16 years now, I have been producing Synerdata Radio.  It has come time to discontinue producing this radio show.  In recent years, I have found I do not have the time I once did to contribute to the production of this groundbreaking new style of radio program, and since the closing of ArtistServer.com last summer, as the central site at which artists were able to release tracks for inclusion in this program, I have wrestled with the intention to continue it, when one after another free music hosting sites have been closed in recent years, and the landscape of the internet has drastically changed since the time when this station was number one in Electronica at Shoutcast.com.

This station has been able to continue for so long as a free, non-commercial net radio station service to artists and their listeners due to the kind support of its listeners and the once vibrant and gathered artist communities it has served to promote, and it has been a phenomenal experience to present such a groundbreaking new style of programming.

For some years now, I have not had the time to contribute to producing the show as in the beginning, and have increasingly relied upon playing recordings of previous shows, and I have decided that where I have personally moved on to other things in community service, the time has come to discontinue this one where I no longer have the time and resources to continue it.

Thanks for listening.

You have arrived at a very special radio station.

The radio program on this station is special because of where the music comes from, and how it is gathered, mixed, and presented, as well as the legal status of the music. This radio program started in the original MP3.com independent artist community in 1999, and is produced by independent artists.

On a regular basis, Synerdata Radio reviews all the music by every artist who releases a new track at a broad array of independent artists sites and then harvests all the best tracks, by everyone, all inclusively, so as to present the most broad scope possible on all the best new releases and actively releasing artists, independent of who the big labels have decided you would be allowed to listen to in their own mass media channels, and in this way, we are able to provide an accurate cross-section and reflection of what all the best artists of our times are singing about, and producing, that you might hear these, and thus, hear true culture of mankind in the 21st century.

This radio program is special, because we connect you directly to the featured artist's sites, where you can freely and legally download the tracks we play, and can support and inspire your favorite artist's by buying their CD's, and so you can shop for new free music while you listen, and we ensure you are hearing all the newest and best artists and releases of our times, hot off the press, as it were.

This radio program is a special community service to independent artists, and radio listeners, to fairly present everything new by everyone, and then to connect you, directly, to all the best artists and free legal music of our times.

Synerdata.Net Radio specializes in Trip Hop Electronica (trippy, groovy, laid back, sexy vocals, etc), but also plays anything cool, Jazzy, melodic electronica, ambient, and more.

Harvest Number 93 for Fall 2014

Harvest Number 93 for Fall 2014 is now [ON-THE-AIR]

It has been unprecedented that since the station started that I have gone this long without producing a new harvest, where the last new show was around this time a year ago.  My apologies for that, but there has been a lot happening here in true history in the course of this past orbit, somewhat distracting me from my volunteer work maintaining the station and programming.

As of this past August, ArtistServer.com shut down.  It was originally called ElectronicScene.com, a site started by one of the original mp3com artists, Gideon Marken in San Diego, at the turn of the millennium.  After a long run, Gideon made the decision to shut down after over a decade of services to the global independent artist community to focus on new projects.  Synerdata.Net Radio is accustomed to the process of sites going down, and has relocated our station harvesting base many times, and now, to Synerdata.BandCamp.comBandCamp.com has become the preferred hosting site by most of the artists we have been following from one hosting site to another over the years, and has for some time now been the primary site where new music for Synerdata.Net Radio is being harvested, along with a presence maintained at SoundCloud.com.   This month's harvest is exclusively from artists which the station is following at these two sites.

We have a great cross section of new electronica for Harvest Number 93 in a traditionally broad scope of sub-genres.  A copy of the playlist can be found at playlist.synerdata.net.  The program is around 12 hours long for a full shift of listening pleasure.  Visit Synerdata.Net to listen, or tune in via your favorite media player.

As Chapter 3 is wrapping up here at the heart of modern history, we are looking forward with dread to the commencement of Chapter 12 in the year ahead, leading to the launching of the station following the revelation of 12:17.   Get ready, here IT comes!

Harvest Number 92 For Fall 2013

Greetings Radio Listeners!

Harvest Number 92 for Fall 2013 is now [ON-THE-AIR]

We have a very special program for this installment.  Not long ago, Gary Numan made the move to Los Angeles, and so after years about hearing about his regular tours in the UK and other exploits, it has been happening that North Americans have been having great opportunity to show their appreciation and to attend one of his band's performances, as upon his current North American and UK tour, and so we have been hearing a lot more about Gary, and look forward to more opportunities to experience his performances.

Harvest Number 92 is inspired by Gary Numan, featuring the hottest new releases in Heavy Industrial God Electronica and Light Industrial Trip-Hop, coinciding with his current tour.  This a phenomenal show with the decidedly darker sound of contemporary Industrial Trip-Hop Electronica.  On the air are some 300 hot new releases for over 19 hours of the true sound of mankind in our present times.

Come and join us in listening!

SYNERDATA - 21st Century Electronica Tour

Synerdata.Net Radio is happy to report that we have now restored the station back to it's regular large audience capacity after a number of years of running in the shadows, allowing us to return to being promoted on higher-traffic sites, and to restore it's prominence and visibility after having upgraded the entire station and it's infrastructure in anticipation of its long delayed launch.  We have just completed transitioning to an all new server center in Chicago and a new IP address (http://50.7.70.66:8235), and the transition has gone smoothly, though we did lose many listeners who's smartphone apps do not update to the new address automatically.  Such listeners are advised to contact the maker of their smartphone app to ask them to update to the new stream server address above.

All Systems Are Go for Launch.

Over the years, Synerdata.Net Radio has built up a vast archive of hand-picked hot new releases in electronica, and things, and so we have this huge music library which only just keeps growing with each new harvest.  While there has been a tendency to play the newest music, and recent harvests, it remains that most of the music in The Secret Hidden Underground Electronica Archives remains new, and unheard by most people upon the earth, and new to a greater part of the thousands and thousands of unique listeners here each month, way up now, in 2013.  In recognition of this, and by request of one of the long-time regular listeners who contributes station hardware infrastructure and server services, I am in the process of taking a live tour of past programs on Synerdata.Net Radio, many of the programs being played for the first time since they originally aired.  This is the first time I have actually taken the station on such a comprehensive tour of past programming, spanning the 14 years since Synerdata Radio started streaming, as we listen to all the best releases in independent electronica, and things, over the course of these turbulent and challenging years.

Thanks for listening!

Just a note to all our regular listeners, we are migrating to a new server address this month (May) and our new address is:  http://50.7.70.66:8235 and the old address would be discontinuing on May 18th.

Please ensure you update your bookmarks to reflect this new change.

Harvest Number 91 for Spring 2013 [ON-THE-AIR]

This harvest, and the last, took an unusually long time to complete and get on the air.  While it is always worth the wait, things have come a long way from back when harvests were every two weeks, in 2002.

I have over 200 phenomenal new releases on the air to warm up your spring setting, for over 20 hours and 44 minutes of smooth brand, new electronic music, with a playlist off-set of just under 4 hours on each rotation of the planet, shifting the program forward each cycle for those who listen daily at the same times, to work through it over the course of about three days.  It's a lot of new music to become familiar with, and so I am still fine-mixing it on the air while we listen.

When I started producing Synerdata Radio for Stream-On-Request play on the internet in 1999, it was at the original mp3com, where all the artists in the world were gathering in vast numbers after it's big IPO, and back then, and after building the live stream station to host the show in Victoria in 2002, almost all harvesting was taking place at {the original} mp3com and ElectronicScene.com (now called ArtistServer.com), and so it was all very centralized, and the artists knew this community station, which one of the artists contributed to the community as an old radio producer and collector of electronic music.  Way up in 2013, the original mp3com has been destroyed now, as was GarageBand.com, where most of the mp3com artists went, and were then strategically buried and hidden, and so up now, the artists are scattered all over the world at smaller community sites, net labels, and private domains.  I continue to follow the work of the best artists wherever they have migrated to over time, while others have come and gone.

Up now, I still review all new releases at ArtistServer.com since the last harvest, and so that's the way to ensure I review your work, but otherwise, most of each new harvest up now is coming from a wide array of artist hosting and release sites, wheresoever the best artists may be, and so it's not the same as reviewing 800 new releases every 3 months at Music.Download.com (2004-2008), in a highly centralized way, and where the artists were actively attending to producing the music for each new harvest to blend together synergystically.   There has been a tendency to download music in album format up now, and so that has also changed the programs somewhat, spotlighting a number of albums in full, variously blended into each show, and giving greater artist spotlight, and over-all program vibe and sound to various artists at prominance.

In Harvest Number 91, there is less vocal Trip-Hop than has been usual, and there is more instrumental electronica.  Prominent are a new album by Mauxuam, as well as an artist collective that he is a member of, called Cloud Cycle (cloudcycle.net), for lot's of cutting edge electronica, and to offset this, there are an array of artists from the Interchill label, presenting the finest modern cultural electronica.

There is a lot of -really- gorgeous and phenomenal new music in this harvest, and so please remember to help support your favorite 21st century artists directly.

You can view the initial playlist for this program, with artist download URL's, at Playlist.Synerdata.Net.

Tune in at: Synerdata.Net Radio!

Peace,

Harvest Number 90 For Fall 2012

The All New Harvest Number 90, For Fall, 2012, is now [ON-THE-AIR]

Over the years, and up until 2006, when it was shut down, one of the sites that I was harvesting from has been IUMA.com, or the Internet Underground Music Archives, regarded as the first one, dating back to the early 1990's.  It was rather sudden, when it went down in 2006, but leading up to that, Archive.org was racing to archive all the music and data at IUMA.com, and managed to get most of the site, before it went down.  Archive.org has just recently resurrected IUMA at Archive.org, and while the archive does not have the familiar IUMA site design (which can still be seen in The Way Back Machine, which archived it), one can browse all the free IUMA mp3 files and artist data which was rescued, and so this is allowing me to resume harvesting of IUMA, to gather up all the best of all that was rescued, and getting it onto the show.

In Harvest Number 90, there is a broad assortment of Electronica and Trip Hop from IUMA, as well as the latest releases since the last harvest of the best new electronica from ArtistServer.com, as well as slew of new releases from some of the best artists the station is following at SoundCloud.com and BandCamp.com, and elsewhere.

Harvest Number 90 is a highly diverse show, weighing in at just moments under twelve hours in breadth, with lot's for everyone.

Enjoy!

IUMA - Internet Underground Music Archive Rescued!

Good news to fans of the famous old IUMA Internet Underground Music Archive!

Archive.org managed to scrape most of the site before it was closed in 2006, and they have just opened access to the music they rescued.   You can find the introduction at: http://archive.org/details/iuma-archive, and you can find a description of the rescue announcement at: http://ascii.textfiles.com/archives/3613, and if you want to dig right into the huge treasure trove and start listening and downloading you can go directly to: http://archive.org/search.php?query=collection%3Aiuma-archive&sort=-publicdate.

Special thanks to the good people at Archive.org for rescuing so much of IUMA.

Harvest Number 90, for Summer 2012, should be on the air any day now!

What Happened to WinAMP?

I thought you might find this article at Arstechnica.com on the history of WinAMP interesting, if you are a long-time listener:

Harvest Number 89 - For Spring 2012

The hottest new releases for Spring 2012 are now [ON-THE-AIR] on CMP3-FM Synerdata Radio!

I have over 150 phenomenal new releases and things finely blended for Version Zero of Harvest Number 89, making for a really excellent sounding new presentation of the state of the art in 21st century electronica, and things.

In this harvest, the vibrant artist community at ArtistServer.com has clearly been working overtime, with a strong showing of almost 100 hot new releases since our last harvest that I have selected to blend into H89, and so most of the artists presented in this harvest are from among that community, which the station and it's harvesting are based in (while harvesting from any and all sites).

As usual, we have the latest tracks from the most prolific artists like Focalized, Uncle Reg, Akinesie, Satorbass, Elika, Fex, Ned Coleman, Wintermute, and many others, as well as a fine showing of new artists we are pleased to introduce.  I make a routine of reviewing all the newly releasing artists at ArtistServer.com in consistency from one harvest to the next, and this way any artist who would like to be on the show only needs to sign up for a free artist page there, and release some of their electronica, and I am able to get it into the next harvest...   Meanwhile, I continue to harvest from the full array of popular and altruistic new release sites and artist communities and artist domains, to round out each harvest with a full scope cross-section of what the best electronica artists of our times are producing.  Be sure to help lift your favorite artists in the charts by downloading their new releases while they are still free, and buy their albums to directly show them your support!  That's how the system works, up now.

I am pleased to introduce the listeners of Synerdata Radio to a very notable record label based right here on Salt Spring Island in Canada, called Interchill Records (Interchill.com), which is representing some of our favorite independent artists from across the past decade.  In the coming harvests I would be presenting a broad selection of tracks from their catalog, including the works of well known independent artists like Eat Static and BlueTech, and many others, making for a really special treat from some of the finest independent artist's who's work we are known to follow.  You can buy the featured albums at interchill.bandcamp.com.

You can view the initial playlist for the latest Harvest at Playlist.Synerdata.Net, including written URL's for the artists.

Enjoy!

Live MP3-J Update

I thought I would just like to let you know about some of the cool things that have been happening here @synerdata this spring.  As much as I love to write, and do so throughout each revolution of the planet, one would not discern as much from a look at the station's MP3-J log, where I have somewhat raised to a fine art the processes of literary minimalism, infrequence, generic description, and personality-free publishing sensibilities, echoing that time-worn refrain...  Synerdata is a radio show, not a website.

My apologies for having remained so obscure over the course of the past decade on the air while preparing the station for launch, for it has not been intended that I should always be so minimally vocal and written here, where in fact I do have many things which I look forward to speaking about in the times ahead, about the experience of finding and tracking and lifting up the best free artists of the 21st century, and of producing the special program that presents us with such a rich and wide scope of the true sound of mankind, way up now.

As of 2012, I have been given to complete a much needed upgrade of The CTRL-ROOM here on SSI, replacing all the well worn systems here, and this presented me with a planned opportunity to process the entire archive of past programs to begin assembling The Big Strand of The Song of Songs, and recording updated versions of all past harvest programs.

While I am working on these programs at intervals, we are in the process of touring the complete history of Synerdata.Net Radio for the first time, to hear all the best releases in independent music of the 21st century.  At any time I may be presenting a past program while recording it in podcast format for listener download in the future.

I have been working on Harvest Number 89 for some time now.  After so many years, the processes of reviewing and downloading and tagging and mixing hundreds of new releases all at once has come to be a decidedly unhurried affair, stretching out as much as a month of longer, down from two days going like mad in the early days of internet history.  I am just at the mixing stage of production on the next harvest, which I expect to have on the air live in an unspecified number of days and/or hours.

It says here that a Twitter account is expected up now, lest you are not normal, or something, and so I finally gave up, and activated @synerdata, which I have absolutely no intentions of using, but there you go.  Perhaps I would learn to use it, and announce new harvests and things, and so if Twitter means something to you, we got you covered.

Anyways, just thought I would say hi, and let you know how things are going with Harvest Number 89 and things...

Cheers!
Gordon
